Description
Before turmeric ever becomes powder, it looks like this — a rough, golden root with all its colour and flavour still locked inside.
What It Is
Our Whole Turmeric Roots (Sabit Haldi) are dried turmeric fingers, still in their raw root form rather than ground into powder. This is turmeric in its most natural state, the way it’s been used in homes for generations before grinding became the norm.
Taste, Smell & Colour
The taste is earthy and slightly bitter, with a warmth that builds slowly rather than hitting all at once. The smell is strong and woody, a bit peppery too. Break or grate one open and you’ll see that deep golden-orange colour turmeric is known for, even brighter than what you usually see in powder form.
Texture
Hard and rough on the outside, dense on the inside. It needs to be grated, pounded, or boiled down before use, since it doesn’t grind easily like softer spices.

Why Buy This One
Powdered turmeric from the bazaar is often cut with starch or coloured with dyes to look brighter than it actually is. Whole roots don’t have that problem — what you see is exactly what’s inside, with nothing added to fake the colour.
We pack it in craft paper, not plastic. That keeps the roots dry and their natural oils intact, without any plastic smell mixing in over time.
How To Store
Keep it in a dry, closed container, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Stored properly, the roots stay firm and strong for a long time, ready to grate or boil whenever you need them.
If your curry’s colour or turmeric milk ever feels a bit weak, it’s usually the powder it’s made from. Whole turmeric roots give you the real thing, straight from the root.
